Adam R. Sweeney, MD

Adam R. Sweeney, MD specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and face. Dr. Sweeney earned his Medical Degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He then completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington, where he stayed to complete his residency in ophthalmology.

Dr. Sweeney was then selected for a highly competitive fellowship in oculofacial, orbital, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He became one of only ~800 members of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). Dr. Sweeney has trained in cancer reconstructive surgery at the #1 ranked cancer institute—MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has also spent significant time working with pediatric patients in multiple children’s hospitals and veterans at numerous VA hospitals across the country. 

Dr. Sweeney has lectured at several national oculoplastic conferences, has published extensively in medical journals, and has written numerous book chapters on eyelid, orbital, and tear drainage surgery. Dr. Sweeney is an assistant clinical professor at University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and enjoys giving lectures to medical students and residents.

While enjoying treating patients for all types of oculoplastic disease, Dr. Sweeney has particular interests in minimally invasive eyelid lifts, cosmetic upper and lower eyelid surgery, non-surgical facial rejuvenation, eyelid reconstruction following removal of skin cancer, tear drain obstruction, and thyroid eye disease. In his free time, Dr. Sweeney enjoys hiking, snorkeling, cooking Italian food, and relaxing at the beach with his wife. He is an avid photographer and plays piano, guitar, and ukulele.
